The light of a 4,940 degree star lit up the interior of the Big Child spacecraft, filling every room with a blinding white aura. Three figures could be spotted in the ships control room, eclipsing the stars violent rays, only their outlines visible. One of them, fairly built with dark brown hair, a silver reflective flight suit with the name “Centaur” embroidered over the right breast, and a thick pair of sunglasses could be seen eating a blue cheeseburger and staring out towards the star. “What a beauty she is…” he muttered between bites into his ever-so-greasy cheeseburger.
A shorter guy was picking away at a box of star shaped fries next to him wearing short brown hair, a silver reflective flight suit with the name “Big Dipper” embroidered on, and a similar pair of extraordinarily thick sunglasses. “It’s whatever,” he said shrugging.
The last of the three was seen sitting in the pilots chair with his legs propped up on the command board and his arms crossed. He wore an orange flight suit with the name “Sirius” embroidered over his right breast and a space helmet. He clicked the side of his helmet to reveal a stubby beard, jet black hair, and too, a thick pair of sunglasses. “This is the third star we’ve stopped by since we changed course to Earth,” Sirius said unenthusiastically.
“The third star? Could have fooled me considering all three of them looked identical,” Big Dipper chimed in.
“Are you guys blind?” Centaur shouted, his eyes fixed to the burning star in the distance. “There’s something different about this one…”
“We certainly will be blind if we keep starring at stars, let’s get a move on,” Sirius said.
“Okay fine, no more stars but I get to choose the music!” Centaur said slowly turning to the other two guys. They both shrugged with indifference as Centaur shot his hands in the air in victory. He strapped himself into one of the fight chairs and Big Dipper did the same. Sirius clicked on his seatbelt to the pilot chair when a voice erupted into the intercom.
“Hello, this is the Big Child spacecraft correct?” a deep voice resounded through the room’s crevices.
“That is correct, who am I speaking to?” Sirius questioned.
“I am an officer stationed in this star system. We have received reports about an unidentified life form aboard a rogue vessel. According to our database, you aren’t registered for this star system and your vehicle will require evaluation. Is it okay if we send a team aboard?” Silence filled the room. Sirius turned his chair around to view his crew. Big Dipper shook his head violently while Centaur crossed his arms in an “X” shaped.
“Where the hell is Matty?” Sirius whispered with urgency. The rest of the crew shrugged.
“Sorry sir I didn’t quite get that, may we step aboard?” Sweat erupted on Sirius’ face as he fumbled around in his chair.
“Ahem, yes uh can you give us a moment to… tidy up?” Sirius closed his eyes and gritted his teeth in hopes his excuse was bought.
“Of course, I will send a unit to your location in a few minutes.” Sirius swiftly turned around again towards his crew, panic filling the room.
“Well boys, it’s time to bounce! Centaur go get Matt-“ Sirius was cut off by the opening of the central control room door. A figure slogged through, one with blond hair, green eyes, skinny physique, and pointed radiant blue shoulders.
“That one was nuclear, I can barely walk let alone sit…” he said, a vile scent wafting through the open door behind him. He noticed the other guys visible panic. “Wait, what’s going on?”
“No time to explain!” Sirius spouted anxiously, “strap in and get ready for light speed.” Matty didn’t argue and threw himself onto the empty flight chair. Sirius started up the main engines and flipped off the stasis controls. The ship shook as the stars gravity began to pull the ship towards it. Using the momentum of gravity, Sirius launched the ship out of the stars orbit and towards the void of space. A voice blew up the intercom.
“Hey! We detected your ship leaving orbit we ask that you remain in stasis!” Sirius smirked as he pushed the ships throttle forward. “Hello? W…e…as…k…tha…t…yo…u…sta…y…” The intercom was drowned in static.
“I got just the perfect song for the occasion!” Centaur said fiddling with his seats pop up display. “Milquetoast” by Helmet erupted into the ships speakers as the spacecraft zipped into light speed and out of sight.
